Joseph E. Reichard, the second youngest son of Joseph and Florenda Reichard, was born in South Whitehall Township, July 3, 1851. With the exception of one year he has always lived in that township. He farmed at Crackersport for thirteen years and in 1904 he settled upon his own three acre lot, which he now occupies at Kratzers. He is a Democrat and for ten years was a supervisor; also saved as register assessor. He is a carpenter by trade and has followed it for some years. Mr. Reichard has served the Lutheran congregation at Cetronia, both as deacon and elder.

He married in 1875 Amelia, a daughter of Matilda (Hoffman) Woodring. Their children follow: Carrie, Eliza, Clinton T. J., Franklin D., Newton P., Matilda, Helen M., and Eva A.
