Henry D. Lazarus, a son of George and Elizabeth (Miller) Lazarus, was born 10/18/1835. He received his education in the common schools and Bath Academy. For 25 years he farmed his father's farm, near Mechanicsville. In politics he is a Democrat. He served as supervisor of the township for ten years, and filled the office of school director for three years. He has for many years been a faithful member of the Lutheran congregation of Mickley's church, having served as deacon for two years; elder, four years; and trustee, 14 years. He was married to Sarah R. Laubach daughter of John and Annie (Albright) Laubach. Mrs. Lazarus died 6/11/1886.
