Rob. Turpin, Master; Genealogical Publishing Co., Baltimore, 1980. !HISTORY: Accompanied Philip, George, and Peter Raub to Pennsylvania from Germany, arriving in Philadelphia 25 Sep 1732 on the ship Loyal Judith. Probably a son of Philip. Other sources say he originally settled at Durham Furnace, Bucks County with Philip, Peter, and George. However, birth and marriage records of John Casper Stoever, pioneer Lutheran clergyman, indicate that he went first to Lancaster County in the area that is now New Holland. He was a sponsor at birth by Anna Maria Meixel of a son, 4 Oct 1733. At this time she may have been a widow (spouse, Jacob Meixel). He married her 25 Nov 1735 in Earl Town which is now a part of New Holland. Their first two children, Anna Maria and Johannes Michael were baptized at one of the congregations that became Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Holland. He and family probably moved to Northampton County about 1740 since all children born after that date were baptized at the Williams Twp Community Church and attendance records showed that he and wife attended that church. He reportedly later moved to Hamilton Twp near Stroudsburg where he died. The children of his son Johannes Michael were all baptized at the church in Hamilton Township. !MARRIAGE: EARLY LUTHERAN BAPTISMS AND MARRIAGES IN SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA; The Records of Rev. It appears to mean 'cohabiting foolishly' -- with embarrassing results!" !SPONSOR AT BAPTISM/PARENT: Records of Pastoral Acts at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, 1730-1799; translated and edited by Glenn P. Scwaim, MD and Frederick S. Weiser; The Pennsylvania German Society, Breinigsville, Pennsylvania, 1977; pgs. 8-9; Sponsors at baptism of Johannes, son of Jacob Meixel, b. Oct. 4, 1733, bapt. Dec 1733, were Johannes Diebendorffer and Michael Raup, Meixel's Nachstahrerod Successor* (* This reference -- 'successor' -- probably refers to the fact that Michael Raup married Anna Maria Meixel on Nov. 25, 1735. Perhaps she was a widow; if so, we should probably understand that the next two children are those of Michael Raup.); the next two children listed are Anne Maria, b. Jan 1737 and Joh. Michael, b. July 29, 1739, bapt. Aug. 1739.
