"Jesse had eight children as I see it, John H.K. being one of many had little to start with and no land. He operated a men's clothing store in Easton about 1838-1861, living on a farm, five miles east of town - Mulberry Hill, the house is still standing. He worked hard and slowly paid for the farm. He was undoubtedly a charming sincere person completely loved by his brothers and sisters, who looked up to him. His wife was a wonderful solid American. I would have liked to know her. He spent the last three years of his life on the death bed, perhaps cancer - who knows!"
