"As the shades of evening were falling on Saturday, Jan. 7, 1922, Mrs. Bathsheba Brodhead Maines entered into eternal rest. Her usually good health had been failing steadily for five months and for the past six weeks she had been confined to her bed."
"Mrs. Mains was born Sept 25, 1836. near Dingmans, Pike County, Pa., one of the daughters of the late Dr. John J. Linderman and Rachel Brodhead, she being the last survivor of the eight children. She married Dr . EIijah W. Mains and the most of their wedded life was spent at Flatbrookville where he died in 1875. Mrs. Mains then passed a year in the home of her brother, Dr. Garrett B. Linderman at South Bethlehem, Pa., before coming to Blairstown to live. Here she has resided forty-five years, taking a leading part in the religious and social activities of the community. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, for a number of years president of its Woman's Missionary Society, its vice president at the time of her death, a charter member of the Pastor's Aid Society, and a life member of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the Philadelphia Board. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. DeWitt C. Carter."
"Her friends are invited to a brief memorial service in charge of her pastor this afternoon at two o'clock. The burial will take place in the family plot in the Union Brick cemetery."
