Misc. Notes
Mrs. Annie Elizabeth, wife of Henry K. Fenstermacher, an employee in E. W. Trexler & Sons' lumber yard, died very suddenly at her home, No. 1141 Linden street, at 12.20 yesterday morning. The deceased had been suffering from two ovarian tumors for the past twelve years, and finally her sufferings grew to intense that an operation had to be performed. This was accomplished Monday evening at 5 o'clock by Dr. John B. Deaver, Professor of Regional Anatomy at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, assisted by Dr. C. D. Schaeffer. Dr. Orlando Fegely attended to the etherization of the patient and Dr. J. D. Christman attended to the instruments. The tumors weighed twenty-nine pounds. The operation itself was very successful, and the doctors were very hopeful of her complete recovery. Her disease, however, was complicated by a weak heart, and at about 12 o'clock she complained of pain in the region of her heart and before medical assistance could be called, she was dead.
She was born December 13, 1850, in Longswamp township, and was a daughter of Nathan and Eliza T. Haas. She was married June 3, 1876, and leaves, besides her husband and aged father, three children --- Ella Alice, George Leon and Carrie Nora. Her brothers are Nathan, Charles and Jonathan Haas, of this city; Frank Haas, of Mertztown, and William Haas, of Catasauqua. Her surviving sisters are Mrs. John F. Weiler, of this city; Mrs. Daniel Bower [Bauer], of Topton; and Miss Annie Haas, of Shamrock. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church and was a most excellent woman. Her death is a severe blow to her family and friends.
