ERWIN C. HANDWERK, 87, of Lehighton R.3, died Sunday in Kutztown Manor. He was the husband of the late Ethel (Mensch) Handwerk. He was a metallurgical engineer for the New Jersey Zinc Co., Palmerton, for 25 years until retiring in 1969. Born in Lehigh County, he was a son of the late Edwin and Rosa (Kern) Handwerk. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Palmerton. Handwerk was an Army veteran of World War I. Surviving are a son, Glenn E. of Denver, Colo.; a sister Ella, wife of Fred German of Schnecksville; a brother Clydan, of Heidelberg Township, Lehigh County; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
