Calvin H. German, 84, of 4737 Best Station Road, Slatington, died Thursday, March 23, in Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mildred M. (Hunsicker) German. He was a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Union Local 542, for 32 years until retiring in 1977. Born in Washington Township, he was a son of the late Fred A. and Ellen Jane (Handwerk) German. He was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Heidelberg Township. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post 16, Slatington. He was also a member of the Slatington Moose. Survivors: Daughter, Grace M., wife of Dr. Edward M. Torbey of Slatington; sons, Wayne C. of Northampton, David E. of Slatington; brother, Marvin A. and sister, Mabel V. Geiger, both of Germansville; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
