Gladys Reichard White, 89, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 AM in St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. Mrs. White, a native of West Catasauqua, PA, graduated from West Chester State College which honored her with a Distinguished Alumna Award in 1979. She continued her studies at New York University receiving her Master of Arts in 1948. She joined the faculty of East Carolina Teachers College that same year where she taught voice for over 40 years. She received East Carolina's Teaching Excellence Award in 1989. She found teaching voice to be a thrilling career and adored her students, many of whom have had active performing and teaching careers themselves. 'My students have taught me so many things'”patience, understanding, how to listen.' In 1952, she married the love of her life, James L. White. They were together more than fifty years and had two children whom she loved and inspired her whole life. She will be remembered for her humor, generous spirit, and deep love for her family, friends, and students. She was preceded in death by her soulmate of 53 years, James L. White.
