On December 15, 1930, death claimed Dr. G. G. Blank, leader and authority on equine history, breeding and ailments. He was in his 66th year.
Dr. Blank manifested a deep interest in horses while still a youth and he was sent to the Ontario Veterinary College, where he secured his diploma in 1884 and returned to this city to practice. He soon became identified as an authority on the ills of racing horses and his services were in demand by many of the largest stables in the east.
Among the achievements which gained him much fame, was the diagnosis of the cause of lameness and ultimate cure of "Single Gt PI a famous race horse of Goshen, N. Y. His specialty was surgery. As a breeder and chooser of good horses his fame spread even across the water. Many of the animals raised by him made famous names for themselves. Among these were ''Honey Dew," 2.08 1/2, sired by "The Clansman," 2.12 1/2.
He was born in Allentown, the son of the late Edwin H. and Eliza, nee George, Blank. Lie is survived by his widow, Clara J., nee Richards, Blank, of Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, Charlotte J. Blank. Los Angeles, and Mrs. Helen Reichard, of this city; a granddaughter. Evelyn B. Pfieffer, of this city, and a sister, Mrs. Jennie E. Schall, widow of Harry B. Schall, of this city.
