----------------------------------------
Ex-Councilman Allen S. Heckman, of Catasauqua, and father of Charles A. Heckman, Summit Lawn, secretary-treasurer of the Allentown Trust company, died Sunday evening at 8:30 o'clock in the Sacred heart hospital, in his 70th year. Mr. Heckman was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning at 11:40 o'clock and was being prepared for an operation for kidney trouble, when the end came. Word of the death of Mr. Heckman came from the hospital shortly after he passed away, and while it was known by the members of the family and a wide circle of friends that he was in a serious condition, all were shocked with the suddenness which his useful career came to an end. Mr. Heckman was a native of Hecktown, Northampton County. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John D. Heckman. In early youth he became associated with the McKee-Fuller Car company, Fullerton, who at that time operated a plant which later became the Fuller-Lehigh Co. He was engaged for many years in a supervisory capacity by the former company and later became associated with the Atlas Portland Cement Co., at their Northampton plant. There he was superintendent of the car department for the past twenty-five years. Devoted to home, church and affairs of Masonry, Mr. Heckman became well and widely known. He was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran church, Catasauqua, and held various offices in the congregation. While never a seeker of public office, he was elected for several terms by Republicans of the Iron Borough as councilman. He was an active member of Porter Lodge 284, F&AM; R.A. Chapter 203, Catasauqua; Allen Commandery, No. 20, K.T., and Rajah Temple, Reading. He was united in marriage to Miss Levina Storm, who survives with one son, three grandchildren and one brother, John D. Heckman, Hazleton.
