Martin Semmel from Wurtheirn Lebensteit, Baden Germany, emigrated to America, landing at Philadelphia May5, 1753. He was married to Margaret Heiner from the same place in the Fatherland. He located on a large acreage of land on the Jordan creek, in North Whitehall Township. He had three sons, George, John, and Tobias, all of whom settled in the neighborhood. This pioneer and many of his descendants are buried at Unionville, Lehigh County.
