Rev. Jacob D. Schindel, D. D., son of Jeremiah was born Jan. 11, 1841, died June 27, 1908. He graduated from PA College, Gettysburg, 1864, and the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, in 1867. He was married to Ellen A. C., daughter of Aaron and Sarah E. (Breinig) Schmoyer, her grandparents being Solomon and Catharine (Schmeyer) Schmoyer. Rev. Schindel was pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Catasauqua for twenty-one years, thirty-nine at Mickley's, thirty-three at Coplay, and nineteen at Egypt, Laury's and Cementon. In 1898 Muhlenberg College conferred the honorary degree of D. D., of which institution he served as trustee since 1874. There were two children born to them: Mary E., deceased wife of Reuben Butz, Esq., and Jeremiah J.
