Misc. Notes
Vina H., nee Roberts, Glick, wife of the late Atty. Austin A. Glick, and a member of a prominent Catasauqua family, died July 21, 1944.

She was a daughter of the late Jacob and Catharine L. Roberts and was born in New Paltz, Ulster County. N. Y., on Washington's birthday, 1867. At the age of three years her parents moved to Brooklyn, N. Y., where she was educated in the public schools and studied music. In 1885 the family moved to Poughkeepsie, N. Y., where her father was employed as superintendent of the Phoenix Horse Shoe Co. The family lived in the old Livingston Manor, a beautiful Colonial residence, situated on a cove of the Hudson River.

In 1889 the family moved to Catasauqua and Mr. Roberts became identified with the Bryden Horse Shoe Co., now the Phoenix Mfg. Co., as superintendent and general manager.

On February 25, 1891, she was married to Austin A. Click in Grace M. E. church, Catasauqua, it being the first wedding ceremony performed in the newly-dedicated edifice. Mrs. Glick joined the congregation June 7. 1891, and became actively engaged in church work, which she continued up to the time of her fatal illness.

She was pianist in the Sunday school for many years, playing for the orchestra, which was directed by Lelhman Ruhe, besides teaching a class. Mrs. Glick was a gifted vocalist and was soprano soloist for a long time in the church choir. She also served as president and treasurer of the Ladies' Aid society for 20 years. Recently she was elected a member of the Board of Trustees of Grace church. She was a liberal contributor to the church. Within recent years the edifice was re-decorated and new electric fixtures introduced by Mr. and Mrs. Glick. During her last year of membership in the Lehigh County Historical Society she presented the old family birth certificates and other family papers to our archives.

Mr. Glick, who preceded his wife in death several yçars ago, was one of the oldest members of the Lehigh County Bar, having been admitted by the late judge Albright in 1889. Mrs. Glick's parents were descendants of French Huguenots. There survive a niece, Mrs. Frances Hayden, of South Norwalk, Conn., and a grand-nephew, Lieutenant Sterling Hayden, U. S. Marine Corps, stationed in Italy. He is the husband of Madeleine Carroll, who is associated with the Red Cross staff in Italy.
