Edwin G. Trexler, one of Lehigh County's most beloved men and active member, officer and supporter of the Lehigh County Historical Society from its foundation; a philanthropist whose interests and gifts were almost universal in their scope thru his support of the special work of his church and the Y. M. C. A. in State, nation and foreign countries, and capable businessman and agriculturist throughout his long years of life, died at his country home, Meadowbrook Farm, west of Emmaus on Saturday morning, October 7, 1939.He was aged 81 years.

The second of three illustrious sons of the late Edwin W. and Matilda Sauerbeck Trexler, he was associated throughout his life with the various activities of his brothers, the late General Harry Clay Trcxler and Hon. Frank M. Trexler, retired President Judge of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, who contributed so much to the upbuilding of Allentown and Lehigh County.

Associated with his elder brother in business for many years, at the age of fifty he retired from those activities with the sale of his interests to his kinsmen and devoted the rest of his life to his charitable and philanthropic works that were so varied in their nature and scope.

This interest extended into virtually every charitable and character-building organization in this community, with particular emphasis upon local and international Y. M. C. A. work in whose local body he was a trustee for many years and in whose State body he served in official capacity at various times. Thru his church, the Presbyterian, he was interested in its far-flung missionary activities and thru the Y. M. C. A. in its work in foreign lands.

Like his elder brother, General Trexler, he was educated in the Tremont Seminary at Norristown and then took business courses in Blackman's Business College, Allentown.

Shortly after completing his schooling, he entered into business with his brother, the late Gen. Harry C. Trexler and Henry Turrell, the three conducting extensive lumber operations, mainly in Sullivan County.

While the business extended throughout a number of Pennsylvania counties, the main offices were located at Ricketts and Lopez, Pa.

After he retired from active business, he became associated with the Trexler Lumber Co. in Allentown and continued in an official capacity for a number of years, retiring 25 years ago.

Active in church affairs and a generous contributor to the church, Mr. Trexler was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of this city and of the Bible Class taught by his brother, Judge Trexler.

Among many charitable and fraternal organizations, he belonged to the following: Board of Directors of the Public Associated Charities of Pennsylvania; honorary vice president of the Pennsylvania Sabbath School Association; board of directors of the Lehigh County Humane Society; chairman of the board of trustees of the Y. M. C. A.; board of directors of the Family Welfare Association; treasurer of Children's Aid Society; director and treasurer of the Lehigh County Historical Society; director of the Pennsylvania German Folklore Society; Huguenot Society; Sons of Revolution; Fishing Club of Lehigh County; John Hay Republican Club.

The only immediate survivor is his brother, Judge Trexler. The following nieces and nephews also survive: Mrs. Thomas W. Williams, Maplewood, N. J., Mrs. Edwin R. Baldridge, Hollidaysburg, Pa.; Mrs. Victor Schmidt, this city; Edwin W. Trexler of Johnstown, and Robert W. Trexler of this city.

Rev. Samuel K. Piercy, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiated at private funeral services held on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 2 P. M. at the home at Meadowbrook Farm. Burial was made in Fairview Cemetery.
