Aaron Steckel, son of Peter and Maria (Schott) Steckel, was born June 19, 1811. He was a farmer and tanner near Klecknersville, Northampton County. He owned two farms containing about 100 acres. He was a deacon and elder in the Reformed Church. He died in Sept. 1898, and was buried at Moore township church. Aaron Steckel married Leah Bachman, daughter of Adam Bachrnan, and had five children: (1) Theodore; (2) Sarah, (Mrs. George Kromer) ; (3) and (4) Mary and Elizabeth, died young; (5) Aaron F., unmarried and a resident of Allentown.
