Frank J. Kern, third son of Nathan and Camline (Shirey) Kern, was born in Washington Township, March 18, 1864. As a boy he attended the public schools of his neighborhood and at the age of eighteen learned the trade of shoemaker, which he has ever since followed. He was employed for two years as a journeyman at Easton; in 1885 worked at Hoffman's, and in r886, removed to Slatington, where he now resides. The family are members of Frieden's Reformed church.

He married, April 19, 1891, Emma C. Museselman, daughter of Aaron and Diana Musselman. Issue: Esther R. and Raymond F. Kern.
