GEORGE B. KERN, the eldest son and first child of Benjamin and Sallie A. (Newhard) Kern, was born Feb. 29, 1880, at Slatington, Pa. He was educated in the public schools of his native town, and. at an early age he assisted his father in his store and on the farm. On March 20, 1909, he became a member of the firm of B. W. Kern & Son, conducting a general store at 301 Lower Main Street, Slatington. This firm has several employees and the store is located on the ground where stood the barn of his great grandfather, George Kern, years ago.

Mr. Kern is a member of the Jr. O. U. A. M., and of the Reformed Church. He married Oct. 14, 1903, Daisy Peters, daughter of Wilson Peters.
