Arthur E. Kern, an employee of the Lehigh Valley Transit company, died at his late residence in Slatington yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. He had been suffering from pneumonia and was aged 40 years, 8 months and 8 days. Besides his wife, Annie E., nee Roberts, there survive five children, Ada, Eleanor, Sarah, Esther and Jeaneth. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kern; one sister, Alma, and one brother, Ray G. Kern, of 226 North St. Cloud street, this city, also survive. Mr. Kern was employed in the repair shops of the Lehigh Valley Transit company for some time and was a member of Slatington P.O.S. of A., the Knights of the Chain of Friendship, and Slatington Tribe of Red Men. He was a faithful member of St. John's Reformed church. Funeral services, which all relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend without further notice, will be held from his late home, Seventh and Chestnut streets, on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Revs. Peters and Guth will officiate. Interment in Slatington Union cemetery.
