William Kern was born in 1725, and died August 18, 1800. He is buried at Unionville. He was twice married. In 1762 he was taxed 20 pounds, in 1763 he was tax collector and taxed 24 pounds, of which 14 pounds was abated. In 1764 he was taxed 6 pounds on 260 acres and in 1782, 2 pounds, 8 shillings on 40 acres of cultivated, and 200 acres of uncultivated land, a grist mill, three horses and three cows.

William Kern, born in 1725, third son of Nicholas, the emigrant, became the owner of the grist and saw mills, which he operated many years. In 1756, he furnished Benjamin Franklin with lumber at Fort Allen, and during the Indian troubles rendered the settlers valuable service as mediator with the red men, with whom he was most friendly. Frequently Indians encamped in the vicinity of the mills.

William Kern was born in 1725 and died August '8, 'Soo. He is buried in the old graveyard at Unionville church. He was of a jovial disposition, and was called "der trockener Kern." This became corrupted into "Trucker," and Benjamin Franklin, in his report to Governor Morris in January, 1756, states that he procured boards and timber for the building of Fort Allen, at Weissnort from "Trucker's Saw Mill."
