Peter Newhard, second son of Michael the emigrant, was born Nov. 15, 1743, and died Sept. 16, 1813. He was a gunsmith and farmer and during the Revolution his services were in great demand for the making of guns. He owned 345 acres of land near Laury's, and-was a member of the Egypt Reformed church, where he was buried. He married; first, Magdalena Kohler, who died in 1777, leaving three children: Katharine Elizabeth, born Feb. 25, 1768; Mary Barbara, born Sept. 25, 1776; and Elizabeth, born Nov. 20, 1777. He married, second. Catharine Miller, born Oct. 6, 1758, died June 23, 1842, who is buried at Indianland. They had six children: (i) Maria Margaret, born Sept. 2, 1779, married, May 17, 1796, John Dieter Bauman born 1772, died 1853, and had eight sons and four daughters, one of whom, Hon. Dennis Bauman of Allentown, born in 1819, is still living in Allentown, aged 95 years; (ii)Peter Newhard, born Sept. 7. 1786, died Feb. 15, 1789; (iii) Salome, born Aug. 1, 1790, married Michael Deibert. and had children Dennis, Reuben, Solomon, Mary, and James; (iv) Catharine Newhard, married George Kuntz; (v) Magdalena, married Jacob Buchman; and (vi) Michael Newhard, born Feb. 28, 1800, died June 11, 1853, married.1823, Sarah Krauss, born 1802, died 1879 and had six children: (1) William, born Feb. 6,1825; (2) Reuben, born June 29, 1830, married Susanna Clewell, and had children: William, Reuben, Mrs. Benjamin Kline. Mrs. Lewis Hohl and Anna M., married Phaon F. Strauss, of Philadelphia, whose children are Carrie and Marguerite; (3) Moses, born July 5, 1834, married Amelia Seibert, and had seven children: (i) Elmer, died Dec. 21, 1900; (ii) Emma F., born Nov. 14, 1867, died March 2, 1900, married Richard S. Kistler and had one daughter. Helen; (iii) Allen; (iv) Frank S.; (v) May, wife of George F. Erich, (vi) Ellen; and (vii) Rosa; (4) James, born Nov. 27, 1836; (5) Mary Ann, wife of Joseph Scheirer; and (6) Lydia, born Jan: 17,1840.
