GENE V. WILLIAMS, 71, of Columbia City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at home. Born in Allentown, Pa., he worked as an engineer with GTE. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed Ham Radio (W9JBD), fishing, restoring antique automobiles, and was former President of the Fort Wayne Historical Automobile Association. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Williams of Columbia City; daughter, Lori (Paul) Shaw of Charlotte, N.C.; son, Douglas (Bobbie) Williams of Phoenix, Ariz.; stepdaughter, Gwendolyn (Brian) Niec of Cicero, Ind.; stepson, Jonathan (Jenni) Kintz of Anderson, Ind.; and grandchildren, Cecily, Cassandra Shaw, Conner, Megan Williams, Conner Smith, and Sophia, Aubrie Kintz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Butler and Josephine (Desht) Williams; his first wife, Janice L., in 1986; grandson, Justin Shaw; and brother, Gary Williams.
