Alfred P. Laubach died at his home, 21 West Twenty-first Street, Northampton, August 11, 1932, after an illness of two years. He was born December 19, 1854, in what is now Northampton, the son of Adam Laubach and his first wife, nee Stofflet; attended the public schools, the Myerstown Academy and was graduated from Lafayette College with the class of 1877, after which he entered business with his father, upon whose death he continued the coal and lumber business.
In 1900 he became a director of the Cement National Bank, and successively filled the offices of vice-president, president and cashier.
He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church at Howertown, and treasurer for more than a quarter of a century. He was school director of Allen Township; served a term as treasurer of Northampton County and for many years was postmaster. He was deeply interested in civic betterment of his town and donated a part of the Northampton playgrounds.
Mr. Laubach was treasurer of both Chapman Lodge, No. 637, F. and A. M., and Siegfried Chapter, No. 295, Royal Arch Masons, for twenty-five years and was affiliated with Allen Commandery, No. 20, Knights Templar, of Allentown; Rajah Temple, A. A. 0. N. M. S. and the Royal Arcanum of Bethlehem. At the age of eight years he heard President Abraham Lincoln's immortal Gettysburg address and was proud to point out to friends the spot upon which the address was delivered. He is survived by two sisters, two daughters and a son.
