He was a man of much ability, was an uncompromising Democrat through his entire life, and for many years served as a justice of the peace in his native county, and also for a term in Carbon County. He was school director for many years, and took an active and helpful interest in all matters pertaining to the public schools and their substantial development. He died at the advanced age of eighty-eight years and was buried in Fairview cemetery, Allentown, Pennsylvania.
