Dr. Tilghninn H. Martin, the third son of Dr. Jacob and Jane (Savitz) Martin. was born at Allentown, Pa., on the 6th of December, 1809. He received an academic course in Allentown and early determined to follow the professional career of his father. He entered the latter's office as a student of medicine, and in 1820 became a student of Prof. William Homer, of the University of PA, and also attended a con of lectures at the Philadelphia Medical Institute. He graduated from the University of PA in 1831 and returned to Allentown, becoming associated with his father to whose practice he succeeded. He was married in 1836 to Miss Mary, daughter of Daniel Kramer, of Allentown.
