Widow of Dr. C. F. McBride.'
Wednesday evening, shortly after 10 o'clock, Mrs. Fannie E. McBride, died at her residence, 238 West Rayen avenue. She had been seriously ill for several months and had suffered a great deal of pain, but at the last she was unconscious and passed away quietly.
She was born Nov. 11, 1856 at Kittanning, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bovard. On May 26, 1876, she was married to the late Dr. C. F. McBride and they resided at Butler and Fairview, Pa. until May 1882, when they came to Youngstown and took up their residence on Rayen avenue where the family has lived ever since. Mrs. McBride is survived by three children, G. Bovard of New York City, Frank B., and Mrs. C. J. Casner, and one grandchild, Robert J. Casner, of this city.
Mrs. McBride was a very public-spirited, active woman. She gave large of her time, her strength, and means in the promotion of various organizations and movements that made for civic and social betterment. She was connected with a number of societies and clubs, in many of which she held responsible office. She was chairman of the board of directors of the National Women's Organization of the National Association of Retail Druggists and president of their local chapter. She was vice president of the Youngstown Federation of Clubs; she was a member of the Clio and Research clubs; the latter she founded in 1894. She was a director and honorary member of the "Women's Up-to-Date Club." She was on the board of directors of the Monday Musical club and also the Community Service society; chairman of the health and sanitation committee of the Women's Federated clubs of Youngstown and also a member of the civic committee of the State Federation of Women's Clubs. For 13 years she was the secretary of the Mahoning Presbyterian Missionary society and for the past 12 years a member of the First Presbyterian church.
Working through these various societies and organizations with untiring devotion she rendered a very large service. Mrs. McBride endeared herself to a great many people, and she had a wide circle of devoted friends. Her advice and assistance were in constant demand because of her intellectual ability and unflagging perseverance. What she undertook she put through at any cost of pains and sacrifice. For many years she has been recognized as among the busiest and most useful women in our city. Her counsel and co-operation will be greatly missed. She rests from her labors and her works do follow her.
The funeral services will be held at the residence, 238 West Rayen avenue, Saturday afternoon at 2:30. The Rev. Wm. H. Hutnut, D.D., of the First Presbyterian church will officiate."
