Misc. Notes
"In 1721 George purchased Londonderry. He must have been about 24 years old, he must Have gotten money from some source since his father's will does not indicate that he left George very much. Londonderry was one of five plantations that came to a hub in the center of Easton and took in Easton Point, which was the packet terminus of the sailing ships that came up the Bay from Norfolk. At Easton Point he ran a stage tavern until 1740 when he sold Londonderry for a whopping sum and married Sarah Elliott of Royal Oak,near St. Michaels. He had sold the Miles Creek farm in1730. Sarah owned "Chance", a 1000 acre plantation left to her by her father (W. Edward Elliot). George lost his life in a blizzard in 1755 on his was to Royal Oak, two miles away, to get some whiskey. The old people in Royal Oak still call a real bad storm a Shannahan Storm! He must have been an out-going character, and undoubtedly developed a thirst while running the Londonderry Tavern for 20 years."
