Misc. Notes
"Samuel E. Shannahan was for many years the editor of the Easton Star-Democrat. The administration of F. D. Roosevelt was very trying for him, because his paper was a Democratic one, but he had no use for the policies and ideas of FDR- ie the New Deal. He solved both problems by refusing to print the name of FDR from the time he was elected until his own death. When he wished or (needed) to refer to him in print he refred only to - the President!"

JHK Shannahan IV

Elliot Shannahan, general manager.

He also served the community in a variety of other posts, including secretary of the Episcopal Diocese of Easton, treasurer of the Talbot County Free Library, a member of the Board of Visitors and Governors of Washington College and a member of the board of the Children's Aid Society.
