Misc. Notes
Data from the Recorder of Deed’s Office - from Tom E. Weaver - E-mail 9/16/2010.
John acquired the property bounded by Pine St., Fourth St., and Strawberry and Church Alleys in Oct. 1884. That property included the land at 4th and Pine on which he constructed the double house for his daughters as well as the lot on which 540 was built. Under the terms of his will, the property passed to his wife, Emma, when he died in 1892. In 1897 Emma conveyed 540 to Lillian Estelle Williams, John T’s wife. Lillian died in May, 1919 without a will and title to the property passed to her husband and three children, Naomi, Donald and Kenneth. John T died in Nov. 1926 leaving a will under the terms of which he left his interest in the property to the children. I think it’s safe to assume that John T lived at 540 until the time of his death because it was not sold until after he died and because none of his children lived in PA. Shortly after John T’s death, the children sold it to Uncle Ralph Weaver and the deed from them to him states that Naomi resided in Kansas City, MO, Donald in Lambertville, NJ, and Kenneth in Wheeling, WV.
John T. Williams was employed by the Crane Iron Company as a weigh master, serving as such until his retirement.
