Worked as a cobler on Lehigh Hill. Wife’s father bought the George taylor farm from John Beisel in June 13, 1821 to which Jacob and Mary moved. The 150 acre farm was very productive and Mr. Deily was ‘placed on his feet’.

David Thomas was guest of the Deily’s household upon arrival in Catasauqua.

He was a farmer by occupation, achieving large financial success from his extensive operations. He was a soldier in the war of 1812. He was the father of nine children, only one of whom is living at the present time (1904) Mrs. Robert Yeager, of Allentown.

Jacob Deily was born Sept 15, 1789, and died May 14, 1881, aged 91 years. He married, March 17, 1813, Mary Magdalena, daughter of George Geissinger, of Salisbury township. She was born Oct 9, 1794, and died March 26, 1883, aged 88 years. They lived for a time on Lehigh Street, Allentown. On June 23, 1821, his father-in-law bought a 159 acre farm south of Catasauqua, and they later removed to the farm. Mr. Geissinger, died in 1823, and by decree of the orphans' court, the farm was awarded to Jacob Deity. They had six children.
