Hopkin Thomas was born in Oxmore, Alabama, in 1876. He attended the high school of Catasauqua, whither his parents removed in 1879, and later was a student in the Lehigh University. He was associated in business with his father in Catasauqua, from there was transferred to the New York agency, remaining eight years, after which he returned to Catasauqua and is now general manager of the company. He is affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal church, a Progressive in politics, and a member of Porter Lodge, No. 294, Free and Accepted Masons; Catasauqua Club; Livingston Club.
In a publication entitled, Proceedings of the Alumni Association of Lehigh University, Times Publishing Co., Bethlehem, Pa., 1909 , on Page 238 is an entry under “List of Former Non-Graduate Students (Not Associate Members) for: Hopkin Thomas, ’02, Agent Davies and Thomas Co. , 26 Cortlandt St., New York, N. Y. Residence Catasauqua, Pa.
It is mentioned in this Reference 212 that Hopkin resided at 510 Walnut St. In , Walking Tour of Catasauqua, on Walnut Between Fifth and Howertown it is stated that Hopkin lived at the house built for his mother, Mary Ann Thomas, at 516 Walnut St. until his death in 1924 at the age of 47.
